Sid and Corinne
Corinne has been the light of my life since high-school. We were introduced by my sister and dated for about a year. I threw a wrench into our relationship when I quit school before completing my senior year and went away to join the RCAF. But I came back, and Corinne agreed to become the wife of a serving Air Force member. She has been my stalwart supporter through all the trials of a young couple living far from home and family. Her strength and faith has kept us going when things seemed impossible; through seperation caused by military priorities, through long hours alone while I went back to school or to military courses, through anguish as I lay in a distant hospital bed.
After thirteen years in the Air Force, we decided that the military family lifestyle was not what we wanted for our children, now approaching their teen years. We accepted a position with NCR Canada and moved to Waterloo. Now, over three decades later, we are still in Waterloo. It has become home for us. We are part of a family of faith here, and have put down roots that help to sustain us.
Our two children, Andy and Tammy, are raising their own families. Andy and Heather, and their two sons Jason and Michael, live nearby in Waterloo. Tammy and Dean, and their two daughters Alyssa and Corrine, live in Ottawa.
The Main Thing is to Keep The Main Thing the Main Thing
The Main Thing, for me, is my faith in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour.
I take my faith very seriously. And I've used the word "faith" rather than "religion" intentionally. I want to be recognized as a follower of Christ, not merely as a person who calls himself a Christian. Read more about my journey of faith.
In addition to my church activities, I have been given opportunities to share my faith in other arenas. I served for a short time as the in-house Chaplain in a Long Term Care facility in Kitchener, until a funding crunch terminated that situation. For five years I also served regularly as a volunteer on-call chaplain at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener-Waterloo. Additionally, I have been blessed with the opportunity to preach in Chapel Services in a Nursing Home / Long Term Care facility in Waterloo.|
Bible College In early 1997, I took a couple of courses provided by my church. One was a course in Theology, taught in a classroom setting by a recent Bible College graduate. The other was a course in Missions; intended as a preparation for short-term missions work, taught by a missionary recently returned from Thailand. Those first tentative steps started me on a life journey that I hope will never end. <more> |
Short Term Missions Together with my life-long helpmate, I have participated in occasional short term missions trips with our church, Waterloo Pentecostal Assembly, through the PAOC (Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada). Check out my Missions page.

Our Travels One of the reasons I joined the Air Force was to travel; and we have done some of that, both in and out of the service. We have been to every Canadian province and territory except Newfoundland and Yukon. We have been to many American states on both coasts and many in between. We have visited Germany and France, even overnighted in Thule, Greenland once. Our various Missions trips have taught us that there is no place like home!
Many Canadians simply do not understand how blessed, how well off, we are to live in a country like Canada. Check out a trip we had taken to Israel in 2005. |
I like Recreational Flying I have always been interested in flying, that was one of the prime motivations for joining the RCAF. Check out my flying page.

My Photography Way back when we were first married, Corinne and I decided to be modern in our picture taking, and go exclusively with slides. Twenty years later we realized we had thousands of slides (which we had cataloged and reclassified several times) that we seldom looked at. It was just too much trouble to set up the projector and screen and coerce people into sitting in the dark for several hours. Here is a brief sampling of some of my photographic efforts. |
Past and Present Hobbies/Pastimes Radio Control Models: I spent many years (and a few dollars) involved in flying radio-controlled models. Someday I will scan more of the hundreds of photos I have around here somewhere. Check out the photographic record of my penchant for leisure time hobbies. |
